The
problem:
Random
piecing
of
rough
plywood.
|

The
solution:
Creation
of
'tile'
layout
that
hides
every
plywood
joint
in
a
'grout'
line.

Here
is
where
I
unquestionably
have
the
most
fun.
Most
of
these
projects
shift
and
change
as
they
are
created
as
clients
or
I
get
new
ideas
or
as
structure
and
function
of
the
space
may
dictate.
This
keeps
me
on
my
toes!
Decorative
painting
is
often
about
"turning
a
sow's
ear
into
a
silk
purse"
and
the
results
are
most
gratifying.
From
folksy
to
elegant,
floors
to
armoires,
if
you
can
dream
it,
I
can
paint
it.

Here,
the
walls
are
colorwashed,
the
bench
is
frotaged,
and
the
floor
is
faux
marble
tiles.

Floor
Cloths

My
latest
creative
outlet!
Floor
cloths
have
been
used
for
centuries,
with
records
dating
back
to
George
Washington's
purchase
of
a
floor
cloth
for
the
south
dining
room
of
the
White
House.
Floor
cloths
make
a
good
choice
for
floor
covering
from
several
viewpoints.
First
and
foremost
for
me
are
the
health
reasons
as
floor
cloths
have
none
of
the
chemical
off-gassing,
toxic
glues
or
harboring
of
dust
and
mites
that
are
problems
known
to
be
inherent
with
carpets.
Floor
cloths
can
be
created
to
work
with
existing
furniture,
in
any
size
the
room
requires
and
in
any
custom
color
or
design
you
can
imagine.
Even
a
custom
floor
cloth
is
usually
less
expensive
than
a
good
quality
carpet.
A
properly
sealed
floor
cloth
lasts
for
many
years
without
fading
and
stands
up
well
to
heavy
traffic.
Cleaning
couldn't
be
easier--just
a
damp
mop
and
mild
detergent
will
do
it.
If
necessary,
floorcloths
can
be
"freshened"
with
a
coat
of
acrylic
poly
from
time
to
time.
|
Inquiries
and
commissions
welcome.
...remember,
if
you
can
dream
it,
I
can
paint
it!
